Alessandra Testori

Raised among the unique natural riches of Massa Carrara, she follows classical studies with a degree in architecture in Florence, and at once begins working on projects of her own, alongside her practice in studios specialised in luxury interior design.

Alessandra chooses to open her own studio in the historic quarter of Santa Croce: 28nero, a physical and ideal place in which to meet clients and collaborators, develop ideas, and stage exhibitions of contemporary artists.

Every project begins with the study of the place: the design always sets up a close dialogue with the context, whether built or natural. In urban interventions the history of the building leads the way: the original design and finishes are uncovered and enhanced, and guide the stylistic choices. In landscape settings the aim is to bring the outside in, maximising transparency and openings: windows become paintings, the pool and the portico are designed as extensions of the house, which merges with the garden and the surrounding landscape; colours and materials are inspired by the natural palette.

The same criteria apply to every project, and become recognisable signs of style: essential lines, bold volumes, chosen focal points, pure geometry. Walls are stage sets, furnishings resemble sculptures. Black is the distinctive trait: sometimes a whole palette of dark tones, warmed by metals, lit by mirrors; sometimes a few elements, for contrast alone.

No decoration is added for its own sake: marble, wood, brass become the ornament and the luxury, with an emphasis on texture, scent and fine craftsmanship.

All this makes the project tailor made, on the client's needs, on materials and furnishings: every project becomes exclusive and unrepeatable.
