Botanical Apartment

Set on a hillside outside Florence, this apartment was chosen during the pandemic by a manager whose working week is spent largely at home. Leaving the city meant more than a change of address: the domestic interior would also become the setting for the working day. Here, the rooms unfold in sequence towards the garden, with Florence held in the distance.

The project begins with what the windows already provide and draws it further inside. Every wall is articulated in two graduated shades of green: paler above, deeper below, so that the garden appears to continue beyond the glass and into the architecture itself.

Nature returns indoors as both pattern and object. Botanical wallpapers occupy entire walls: a dense jungle rises behind the sofa, while drawn magnolias bring a quieter natural presence to the bedroom. The Cosmic Leaf lamp stands among them like an abstracted leaf poised on its stem.

The palette gathers depth as it moves through the apartment. The greens of the painted walls darken into the richer tones of the wallpapers, then into the anthracite of the pieces placed against them: the wooden canopy bed, the Atollo lamp, the bio-fireplace and the Driade armchair. The progression reaches its most concentrated point in the kitchen, where a monolithic peninsula in black natural granite gives the composition its visual weight.

Throughout the day, garden, interior and workspace remain in quiet alignment. Green is no longer simply the view beyond the windows, but the atmosphere through which the entire home is experienced.
